College Curriculum

Ocean Crest College provides a UK-based educational programme. We are located within Lagos State and as such follow the directives issued from Lagos State Ministry of Education. Therefore we are continually developing our curriculum provision map, so that it integrates the Nigerian and British curricula into one comprehensive programme of study.

In line with the British education structure, our students encounter two clear stages to their education. KS3 (Year 7, 8 and 9) and KS4 (Year 10 and 11).

At KS3, all students will experience a broad and balanced curriculum covering the following focused subject areas: English, Mathematics, Sciences (separate in year 7, 8 and 9), Information and communication Technology, History, Geography, French, Physical education, Art and Design, Music. All of these will be a blend of British and Nigerian context.

Additionally, students will be involved in active PSHE sessions (Personal social and Health Education).
During the course of Year 9, students are asked select their preferred subjects through an option process. Their choices will define their individual KS4 programme of study within which every student will follow 8 core subject areas: English Language, English Literature, Mathematics, one foreign language, one science, Physical education and PSHE. The latter two subject areas are non-IGCSE.

They will be asked to select 4 additional IGCSE subjects-the combination of which can be crafted to meet a number of different further education career pathways including Medicine, Engineering, Accounting, Languages and Literature, Social studies and the Arts. Music, French, Sociology, art and design at IGCSE are all provided for here at the college.

A number of our students will also undertake extra studies and sit for the JAMB.
As each student prepares for life after Ocean Crest College, the educational foundation they carry forward with them, ensures they can transit easily into institutions in the UK, USA, Canada, South Africa, Australia, Mainland Europe and of course Nigeria.
